Built on Experience. Driven by Purpose.

A Different Kind of Financial Partnership

Johndrow Wealth Management is a woman-owned family wealth management practice built on more than four decades of experience helping individuals and families make thoughtful financial decisions. Based in Connecticut, we work with clients locally and across the country–including NYC, Boston, DC, Philadelphia, and LA– often supporting professionals and families navigating increasingly complex financial lives.

Over time, we’ve grown alongside our clients, always focused on providing steady guidance and personal attention, with a perspective that looks beyond the immediate moment. Our work centers on comprehensive financial planning and long-term wealth stewardship. That can include investment guidance, retirement strategy, and thoughtful coordination across different areas of a client’s financial life so decisions feel cohesive rather than fragmented.

Relationships matter here. We take the time to understand what is truly important and remain engaged as circumstances change. That continuity shapes how we work and reflects our belief that thoughtful planning should support today’s priorities while keeping an eye on what comes next.

Client Stories

Discovering The Next Stage in Life
Diane spent most of her adulthood tasked with one of life’s most valuable responsibilities: caring for her children and home. Once most of her children were adults and out on their own, Diane realized she needed to make a significant life change and filed for divorce.

Johndrow Wealth Management was dedicated to understanding Diane's financial needs as she entered a new phase of her life. Maggie and her team provided Diane with support and crafted a robust financial plan to help her address the following questions as she moved into the next stage of her life:

  • Should I keep my house? Is it financially sound to do so? If not, where can I afford to live?
  • Do I have enough saved for retirement? If not, what steps can I take to be financially secure in the future?
  • What is a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO)?
  • Can I collect Social Security despite not being employed for many years?
  • What is my risk tolerance? Does my acquired investment account match that?
  • Once I am off COBRA, what are my health insurance options?
  • What about long-term care, disability insurance, and life insurance?

During new phases in life, whether divorced or widowed, one may no longer have a person to be a "sounding board" for big life decisions. Maggie, Lori, and the Johndrow Wealth team are committed to being that support system. We are here to help you each step of the way as you transition into a new phase of life.
Planning Across Generations
As one of our long-time clients, Michael has been with Johndrow Wealth through times of both national economic boom and decline. He was initially looking for guidance on life insurance and insight into how he could supplement the insurance provided by his employer to help protect his young family. As Johndrow Wealth expanded its services to include financial planning and investment management, Michael quickly came on board.

Michael’s story is an example of the type of client Johndrow Wealth has worked with for many years. As a long-time Aetna employee, he initially began working with Lori, our founder emeritus, because of Johndrow Wealth’s deep understanding of Aetna’s retirement benefits. That experience helped Michael objectively assess his 401(k), pension, insurance, stock options, and overall financial picture.

We also work with Michael’s son Andrew, a newcomer to the investment world. Lori’s daughter-in-law Maggie immediately struck up a professional relationship with him. Maggie and Andrew were able to work through his finance-related concerns and subsequently discuss the goals of both Andrew and his wife, Rachel, including retirement, student loans, and buying a home.

Michael and Andrew’s story is an example of our firm’s approach to multigenerational planning. We don’t just plan for younger generations, we actively involve them in the process and give them access to the same advisors their loved ones have worked with. With a financial plan set, Rachel and Andrew were able to make objective decisions related to their housing arrangements. Johndrow Wealth also connected the couple with a local real estate agent to help them find the space they desired. This illustrates that Johndrow Wealth provides more than financial advice. We also serve as a connector, providing clients with access to other strategic professionals who can help them on the path toward achieving their financial goals.

Becoming a Part of the Johndrow Wealth Family
Elaine spent most of her career at Aetna while Robert built his career at The Hartford. We leveraged innovative technology and our team's combined expertise to help Elaine and Robert answer important financial questions, including:

  • Do I have enough saved to retire the way we'd like?
  • Am I taking on the appropriate amount of risk in my investment portfolio?
  • Do I need long-term care insurance?

These two insurance professionals initially began working with Johndrow Wealth because of the team's deep understanding of the retirement benefits available through their employers, including pension and 401(k) plans. Anytime a financial situation arises for Elaine, Robert, or their adult children, the Johndrow Wealth team is ready to help them evaluate their options and find the right solution. The team has also provided guidance through significant changes to employer benefits and retirement plans.

In addition to the financial guidance we provide, Elaine, Robert, and their children enjoy all the benefits of being part of the Johndrow Wealth family. They regularly attend educational events covering topics such as Medicare supplements and tax planning, as well as client appreciation events like casual trips to Newport and our annual referral dinner at Piccolo Arancio.

Working globally, saving Locally
Maggie began working with Natalie in March of 2018. Natalie wanted help saving money instead of spending it.

She had received a leadership role at a Boston-based global digital advertising firm, and given her new position, she felt that it was time to take control of her finances. Because her new role involved regular international travel to places such as London, UK, and Sydney, Australia, she needed someone in the United States tending to her assets. She needed someone to help build her financial future, but also someone flexible and capable of navigating the irregular schedules introduced by her regular travel through multiple time zones.

At Johndrow Wealth, we prioritize and leverage technology. In this case, by using screen sharing, video conferences, and various social channels, Maggie and Natalie were able to regularly connect and implement customized retirement savings and financial plans. Though in different countries, Maggie maintained regular contact with Natalie and helped her consolidate and refinance her student loans after a promotion so that she could take a more proactive approach to tackling debt.

Maggie created a savings plan for Natalie’s retirement, and the assets are managed by our firm.
Taking Control to Gain Financial Freedom
Rebecca was facing difficulties with money that we have recognized many clients struggle with: a fear of personal finances. She was looking for someone who could break down money management in a simple way and provide actionable steps she could take to gain greater control of her financial situation.

Maggie helped Rebecca define her financial goals by creating actionable and attainable steps tailored to her goal of financial security. Maggie checks in with Rebecca quarterly to help keep her on track and to make any adjustments, if necessary.
Defining Your Own Retirement
Patricia began working with Johndrow Wealth before retiring from her role as a Senior Director at Aetna. She came to the firm with an appetite to learn. Maggie helped Patricia understand her 401(k) investment options, consolidate accounts, better understand her pension benefits, and navigate tax considerations related to changes at her longtime employer.

Maggie also works with Patricia’s daughter in Los Angeles to develop her own financial strategy. Financial planning begins well before retirement, and our work with Patricia’s daughter is an example of how we help multiple generations of a family plan for their financial futures.

Financial Independence
As a single person, you are often faced with making big decisions, including financial ones, on your own. Laura came to Johndrow Wealth because she was looking for insight and guidance after previously making important financial decisions independently. Getting a second opinion can be valuable when it comes to personal finances, and our team was there to provide that perspective.

The Johndrow Wealth team took the time to listen to Laura and provide guidance as she navigated important life decisions. We helped her develop a financial plan for retirement and address important questions such as, “How do I invest my money so that I don’t outlive my retirement funds?”
Growing Your Family
Amanda and Eric came to Maggie with some investment experience. As young, ambitious professionals, Amanda and Eric were looking for additional guidance and attention to detail when it came to managing their finances.

With the birth of their son, Maggie and the Johndrow Wealth team helped Amanda and Eric prepare financially for their growing family. More recently, the Johndrow Wealth team worked with them to provide guidance on protecting their assets against risk through the strategic use of life insurance.

We also connected Amanda and Eric with a local realtor who helped them find a home in time for their new baby, helping make the transition to parenthood a little smoother.
